Welcome to the latest LEIA member, Orton Lifts & Escalators Ltd which provides a full range of services covering all aspects of lift and escalator works. Its aim is to “deliver high-quality, sustainable, cost-effective solutions to programme by employing and supporting motivated, flexible, and focused teams.”

Formed in 2004, the business is based Welwyn Garden, and has a branch in Australia.  Employing a team of 48, it has worked on a number of major projects including Crossrail and Liverpool Moorfields.

Former LEIA President, David Sharp, joined Orton as Managing Director (MD) in January 2020 and Orton has now joined LEIA this year.  “It’s great to have David back working with LEIA again” commented Nick Mellor, LEIA MD. “We’re looking forward to collaborating with David and the team over the year ahead.”

David Sharp, MD at Orton added: “I have always been supportive of LEIA and I am old enough to remember NALM [National Association of Lift Manufacturers] where I completed several distance learning units. The training is great for the industry and we have an apprentice on the LEIA / LITS scheme. I would like to get back onto the board of LEIA at some point so I can share my experience on escalators. My team are already logging onto the LEIA website as it has a vast amount of helpful information. I am looking forward to working together again.”
