Welcome from Laura Webb, LEIA Managing Director

Can’t Find What You’re Looking For? Click here for our Website Index

Thank you to all members for your very warm welcome. It’s with great enthusiasm that I join LEIA as Managing Director and begin working with you. I’d firstly like to express gratitude to the LEIA Managing Board and the Executive team, especially Nick Mellor for all his dedicated work as Managing Director since 2017. I am keen to build on his work and to continue drawing on his considerable knowledge and insight.

The lift and escalator industry continues to operate in a challenging environment, with ongoing activity across the Building Safety agenda, skills and workforce issues, environmental considerations and wider regulatory change. These challenges cement the importance of a strong and effective trade association.

LEIA’s role is to represent your needs and continue to build standards, education and learning to ensure a safe, dynamic, sustainable and commercially viable sector that serves the built environment and society more widely. The industry is key to accessibility, modernity and the continued viability of older building stock.

It is therefore essential that LEIA continues to lead through its committees, partnerships and core activities. These include the development of standards and codes, distance learning, apprenticeship assessment and the provision of support and practical guidance that’s easy for members to digest and implement.

I’d like to engage you as much as possible and gain your views as your representative Managing Board sets its forward-looking work on your behalf.  We will be looking at new ways of doing this over the next few months. Please do feel free to get in touch with me or any of the team if you’d like to meet with us or want to express your views.

I hope to meet with you at forthcoming LEIA events,

Laura
